Hello! I am terribly sorry that I have been all radio silence of late. I know I was going to tell you about my adventures at the Surry International Writers Conference in Vancouver, BC back in October, but I dove right into #NaNoWriMo afterwards. I’ve been buried up to my bloodshot eyeballs in writing ever since. Suffice to say that the the conference was an incredible experience. I got to spend time with friends and make new ones, I gained invaluable writing knowledge and resources, I got to listen to a couple of sultry audiobooks on the long road trip, and I had an absolutely wonderful weekend.
As I mentioned, I’ve had my nose to the grindstone for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), for the past two weeks. If you’re not familiar with the event, writers all over the world buckle down for a month-long challenge to write 50,000 words. I participated for the first time last year, I won (completed the challenge), and subsequently published the novel I wrote (Off Pitch) a few months later!
After spending nearly 8 months trapped in a writing slump, my NaNoWriMo got off to a pretty slow start. I am happy to report that halfway through, I am finally getting back into the swing of writing, and I couldn’t be more relieved. I’ve finished a short story that I will submit for consideration in an anthology in December, after I’ve had time to go back and polish it. If you’re interested in the project, you can check out the submission guidelines for the Love and Bubbles anthology here.
Most exciting of all is the fact that I have finally conquered the massive mental block I had in my first draft of Unbecoming Humans: Out of Eden, the second installment of the Unbecoming Humans series. I am so near the end of the draft that I can almost taste it. Once I’ve finished that, I’m going to go back and rewrite the first installment and get it ready to start submitting for publishing consideration.
Finally, and my primary sinister intent behind this post, I am participating in an event on Wednesday during which YOU will have the opportunity to win piles of free stuff! 14 of my fellow Ninestar Press authors and I are joining forces for a huge release party and author takeover on Facebook on Monday, November 20th. That’s this coming Monday. Authors will take turns hosting for an hour, and each of us will be hosting giveaways, games, question and answer sessions, and whatever other shenanigans we can come up with by then.
If all goes as planned, I will be going live to talk about Off Pitch and give away awesome prizes like swag and free copies of my book! You can check out the event here. I’ll be hosting the 3pm EST hour, but feel free to drop by all day to win piles of prizes!
Thank you all for bearing with me while I played catch up on all of my exciting news! A quick reminder that if you haven’t read Off Pitch yet, you can pick up a copy directly from Ninestar Press, Amazon, and most other major online retailers. If you have read it, I would be eternally grateful if you would take a couple of minutes to leave a review on Amazon so, to help others see it!
Okay, I’m done now. Thank you, happy reading, and happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans!
