By now, many of you have heard my wonderful, unbelievable news. I signed Off Pitch with NineStar Press last week, and we’re going to make a beautiful book baby together! I opened my e-mail at 7:30 am Thursday morning, to see the news! My poor wife woke up to me quietly screaming and crying. (I tried really hard not to wake her up, but you try staying calm when you receive your first publishing offer.)
I started writing Off Pitch in November for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). I developed horrible writer’s block while working on the second book of the Unbecoming Humans series. I decided starting a new project – something completely different – was exactly the thing I needed to clear my head. Thus, Off Pitch was born.
Before I started writing it, I told myself I would never venture into the world of romance writing, and Off Pitch was meant to be nothing more than a plotless fluff piece. At first, I wasn’t even sure I was going to share it with anyone, because I was so embarrassed by what I was creating.
Adeline and Gabriella had different ideas. As I started writing their story, I fell in love with the pair, and found that their hilarious, adorable, and steamy antics had me glued to my keyboard day in and day out. It took nearly three months to complete the first draft, but I was unexpectedly proud of the end result.
If you want to know all about Pitch Madness and what happened next, go check it out here! The querying process was grueling, and educational, and painfully suspenseful, but I am over the moon that it paid off!
I want to send an unending thank you to everyone who has supported me during my first steps on this grand adventure! To all of you Wattpadders, Tweeps, and real-life friends and family who have read, commented, voted, and listened to my manic rambling, I would not be here without you, and I want you to know that I appreciate you more than humble words can express. You know who you are. If you don’t, then I’m not sticking to my previously stated principals very well, and you have my permission to chastise me thoroughly at every opportunity.
Of course, no thank you would be complete without sending my absolute gratitude to NineStar Press for taking a chance on someone who is still so wet behind the ears. Here’s to many years, and many successful book babies to come!
I can’t wait to see where this next leg of life’s adventures will take me, and I hope you’ll all stay tuned to share in it with me!
